The award-winning refurbished Victorian Tower contains three sumptuous, individually designed suites and a meeting room, all commanding near panoramic vistas of the hotel grounds and surrounding Swansea Bay district. The famous Tower Suite at the top of the Tower is split level, with a mezzanine floor open plan bedroom.
The Tower was originally built in 1886 by the hotel's first owner, brewery magnate Captain Evan Evans, as a camera obscura.
Local lore has it Captain Evans boarded up the distinctive four-storey octagonal brick structure after important guests he was entertaining caught a glimpse of his wayward daughter frolicking with a young man in the nearby sand dunes. In World War II, the structure was used by US military as a lookout tower and it is rumored that world champion heavyweight boxer Rocky Marciano slept there as a young GI.
